District Deputy Grand Lecturer

R:.W:.B:. H. R. Huey Higgins

R:.W:.B:. Huey Higgins, born April 5th, 1936, was recommended for District Deputy Grand Lecturer of the 35th Masonic District by Grand Lecturer R:.W:.B:. Randall J. Jones and appointed by Grand Master M:.W:.B:. Glenn E. Means September 2001.

Huey was Entered August 7th, Passed November 6th, and Raised to Master Mason December 4th, 1973 in Ava Lodge #26. He demitted from Ava Lodge in May of 1980 to become a member of Henderson Lodge #477 in Rogersville and elected Worshipful Master there in 1999-2000.

Huey is a perpetual member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Joplin where he is Membership Chairman, Auditorium Crew member, Captain in the Lodge of Perfection, cast member KCCH Investiture, and cast member in the 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 19th and 32nd degree's.  Bro. Huey was Decorated Knight Commander of the Courts of Honour in 1999 and the Royal Order of Scotland April 7, 2001. On November 7th and 8th in Kansas City MO, Huey was  coronated to the last and Honorary 33°.  He holds memberships in the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, the Ali~O~Zark Grotto where he advanced to Monarch in 2002, and in the York Rite serving there as Auditorium Crew member being Knighted in St. Christopher Conclave Red Cross of Constantine January 13th, 2001.

From 1983 to 1995 his Blue Lodge involvement was limited due to a transfer to Arizona, but that didn’t deter his involvement with the Scottish Rite in the Valley of Joplin. Having already obtained a pilots license, he bought an airplane and flew back to Missouri to make the Reunions once each year, missing only a couple of years due to scheduling arrangements beyond his control. Since retiring in the mid 1990’s, Huey’s Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite schedules have been non-stop. R:.W:.B:. Higgins’ zeal for Masonry has been an inspiration to many, many brethren including his two twin sons, Bro's David and Daniel whom Huey Raised to Master Mason in August of 2000, the proudest moment of his Masonic career. He visits Southwest Missouri area lodges on an average of 3 nights per week to help with degree work and to promote the Scottish Rite and will accompany DDGM Gray on his Official Lodge visits.
