To learn to subdue my
passions and improve myself in Freemasonry. Sound familiar? Have you ever
taken time to think about this and just what all is involved in living up to
these words? Let me share with you my thoughts about this. To learn. Well to
learn is to gain knowledge. How do we gain knowledge? By seeking information
by any and all means at our disposal. What if there is no information to be
found? Who looses. Who ever is seeking that information looses plus all
those who will come in contact with that person though out their life.
Information lost forever. We all were seeking information more light when we
found Masonry. And thank God there were those around that had the
information to teach us. Around to keep the light of Masonry burning that we
may come to knowledge of it. Those that made sure doors to the lodges were
open. Made sure there were enough learned brothers available and present to
pass on the knowledge that we can learn just how to subdue our passions and
to learn in whom to place our trust. To teach us just how to take control of
our lives and how to treat our fellowman. Take just a moment to reflect on
just what your life might have been without Free Masonry. The fellowship
gained through attending the meetings, getting involved in service to our
brothers and all mankind. Would this be a loss to you? And when you hear
about someone, especially children, needing help and you know that as a
Mason you can call on the vast resources offered through all our Masonic
Health Care programs to get aid for these in need. Would this be a loss to
you? The feeling you get when you see and hear of adults or children that
have had their lives enriched through our Masonic charities. To grow through
the years with others who share in the same high standards, virtues and
morals. Would this be a loss to you? All of these and more are yours because
of our fore fathers in Masonry knew that to keep the light of Free Masonry
burning it took dedicated Masons to be there for us. Dedicated Mason that
made good on their obligation to improve myself in Freemasonry by
attending the meetings, paying their dues and encouraging those that have
fallen away from the light to regain the passion so that there will be a
Masonic Family for future generations. We do not pay dues for the here and
now we pay dues to ensure our tomorrows. It is so important to keep your
dues paid. It could have a dramatic effect on your future especially through
the programs available to paid up members through the Masonic Home of
Missouri. If you have not attended your lodge lately, for the love of
Masonry do so. You will be amazed just what a warm fuzzy you will get. Then
carry this another step by getting involved with you local Scottish Rite
Club and attending the Scottish Rite Reunions. Then go for the Brass Ring by
bringing back former members and of course sharing the message of Masonry
with other men so that they can be enlighten just as someone enlightened
you. Come on get up and get involved after all it is our obligation. I know
for the most part I am preaching to the choir here. The Valley of Joplin is
blessed with many dedicated Masons who put into practice what they have been
taught. Our Valley is still strong but we need to make an effort to reach
out a pull our brothers that have started fading away back into the ranks.
We need each and everyone of our members to help us secure the fate of
Scottish Rite Masons for future generations. Please help us help them.
Fraternally,
Allegiance
